Canción del Sábado 21.Serie de tributos bluegrass a canciones míticas. Y esta es de mis favoritas: tanto la original como la versión.Oportunidades desperdiciadas.Nada gratis.Nostalgia de lo que solía ser.Todavía es difícil, difícil de ver.Frágiles vidas, sueños rotos.

Bluegrass is too upbeat of a musical style for the subject of this song. Ironically that's kind of why I like it.

I'm probably super wrong, but it sounds like a standard Scruggs pattern. Sounds like they're alternating between the four strings and putting in the fifth every other measure. And throwing in what sounds like some reversed rolls too.

This band can make depressive/sad music sound... Happy. Badass.

Offspring are a band with their roots in the skater punk / hardcore of the early 80s. Anyone out there ever found some Minor Threat bluegrass covers. MT were clearly an influence on the Offspring and I suspect would make some fantastic material for covers.

What kind of banjo roll is this someone has the tabs? Or how you pick the roll?

I was just referring to how different punk is from bluegrass. I never said it wasn't a good song to being with.

I don't like the way you say "anything"... this was a good song to start with, in terms of melody and lyrics, which tend to be important in covers. I do admit I always thought Offspring's style didn't quite capture the sadness of this song though, and this version.... wow.

I don't know, personally I consider Ignition/Smash era Offspring to be vastly superior to Nirvana.

If ya listen to the style, its not far off from some Nirvana even, so not surprising generations from this time would be appreciative. (not comparing Offspring to Nirvana mind you, only times, genres, and anthropological influences from WA to CA in the 80's and 90's being touched by other music, thank blues and jazz though, without a lot of that "soul" behind cords, rock music might not been invented to begin with, turning raw emotion into a melody, like phosphorous turning into food for a flower.
