Pick Yourself Up - Rita Reys video free download

Rita Reys performing Pick Yourself Up, as part of a TV show she recorded for Dutch public television, accompanied by the Pim Jacobs Trio and an the Lex Jasper Orchestra. The show was named after her 1983 album Memories of You, and was broadcast as a promotion for this record.

A couple of years ago arranger and conductor Lex Jasper spoke with the Dutch JAZZ Magazine about his experiences recording this album with Rita, which took place in the Summer of 1983 at C.T.S. studio's, Wembley, London. He told that the album is still one of the favourite products by his own hand, and that during the recordings Barbra Streisand was listening at the door of the studio to catch a glimp of Rita singing with his orchestra. (It turned out she was just recording a new album herself at the same C.T.S. studio's.)

Pick Yourself Up (Dust Yourself Of And Start All Over Again) is a song composed by Jerome Kern, with Lyrics by Dorothy Fields. The song was written for the film Swing Time (1936), where it was introduced by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It was also recorded and performed by artists like Mel Torme and Diana Krall.
