Another splendid and powerful song from the album "Ovations"

Piano Magic - March of the atheists - (Ovations, 2009)

Make Mine Music

(Glen Johnson / Jerome Tcherneyan / Peter Ulrich)

Well I can accept that you have your faith....

So you must accept that I have none....

You chase your god into your grave....

I'll die alone when my days are done....

All these fabulous beasts that you strike down....

All this beautiful land that you claim to command....

And all these wars in the name of a book....

There's god in your heart but there's blood on your hands....

So where are your fires of Hell?....

So where now your golden gates?....

I see no angels, no heaven on high....

I hear no marching of your saints....

(Go placidly amongst the noise and haste)....

Well, I know your churches are a sight to behold....

And I know your stories as good as any man....

I know we all have our crosses to bear....

But I'll waste none of my time in desperate prayer....

I've rung the bells of the Mont-St-Michel....

But me and the saviour were never that close....

I've called into the night with no hope of reply....

But I've seen the holes in the Holy Ghost....

So where now, your peace to all men?....

So where now, your undeniable proof?....

Where is it written, in paper or stone : ....

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth?....

Programming, percussion, bass: Jerome Tcherneyan

Hammered Dulcimer: Peter Ulrich

Guitar: Franck Alba

Vocal, claps: Glen Johnson

Strings: Ruth Elder, Kwesi Edman

Wise (and just) words uttered by this great band:

"FREE DOWNLOADS ARE FINE..BUT PLEASE BUY *SOMETHING*

It's inevitable. Some people won't want to buy our records when they can get them for free. In an ideal world, all music would be free and recording artists would be happy to make music for free distribution to the masses. But this isn't an ideal world. Recording and releasing records costs money. And in our case, that money comes straight out of our pockets. We have to at least recoup that money or we can't continue to record. It's that simple.

We try to make our records as cheaply as possible in the stores. We set the dealer price (the price we sell the record to the distributor at) as low as we possibly can so that the price you buy it for in the store doesn't break the bank. We just need to cover our costs.

So, please, if you download or share our music for free, consider buying something by the band too. Come to our concerts, buy a CD at the concert. Without this, we can't continue to make music.

Thank you.

I'm hoping this song is obscure enough that some of you haven't heard it.

I liked it, although I would have prefered it with drums, trumpets and even bagpipes ;)

@bypass, all agnostic means is that you don't know something, you are either agnostic atheist (I reject the idea of a god, but am open to the possibilty I may be wrong) or gnostic atheist (I know there is no god, full stop), or inversely gnostic theist (I know there is a god) or agnostic theist (I'm pretty sure there's a god., but can't be certain). All agnosticism is, is a position of uncertainty, whereas atheism is a rejection of the claim that a god exists.

@FeralSheWolf agnostic means you think the question "does God exist?" is unprovable either way. You can be an Agnostic atheist, deist, Christian (Believing it is a matter of personal revelation, and you can never prove it to someone else.) or any other religion. Ignostic means you think the question is meaningless and irrelevant to your life. Go for a wikiwalk from "agnostic" or "irreligion" on Wikipedia.

@Gokunama - change '...rebelling against the idea of the Yahweh god model or any other god model,' to '..rebelling against the idea of the Yahweh god model or any other religious belief,'..

@FeralSheWolf - No, you may be correct in a way. I simply see a god or gods as logically making little sense. An almighty god who will give especially those who had horrible lives a life of eternal bliss is romantic, but all god paradigms I've looked carefully at seem logically unsound, thus it's not that I'm rebelling against the idea of the Yahweh god model or any other god model, in fact I like Buddhism, but I just can't believe it. It also seems to have a few logical flaws.

@Gokunama I thought that myself, but when I did some research, I found that supposedly atheists are the ones with active *dis*belief, and agnostics are the ones that simply refrain from any beliefs?

@bypass12345 Are you retarded or something?

Simon Fisher

@bypass12345 - atheists simply lack a belief in what there is no evidence for. No evidence for Santa, elves, the Easter bunny, Zeus, or Yahweh, thus we lack a belief in them. Nothing difficult in that. Logically sound. End of story.
