A walk through time with Phyllis Hyman. A small tribute from a PH latecomer. My intent was to show her at different facets of her life and career. She should be remembered.

Love me some Phyllis Hyman, she was my idol, when she was here. Went to see her twice. Once at the Arie Crown, I'm in Chicago, then I saw her again at place call George's which was a small setting. I'll never forget her, we went to a after set after the concert at George's not far from where I live now. I got her autograph. Beautiful lady, with a wonderful voice, sorry she didn't get all the recognition she deserved when she was alive. She learned the business, and they black balled her. She will always be one of the great one's to me along with Whitney! RIP songbirds! Gone never forgotten.

Just plain deep!! It was when I first heard this song in the late seventies and it still gives me chills listening to it today.

This extraordinary composition written by McCoy was a great vehicle for Phyllis vocals. But I guess it does not heart either when Stanley Clarke and McCoy Tyner are backing you up.

@michigan21 Yeah, Stanley tore the upright bass up. He played on an earlier album of McCoy's called Together around 1977 or 78".

Such a melancholic, quietly theatrical song. Could work well on a movie soundtrack.

I thought I had a lot of or rather most of Phyllis' music. I can't even throw rocks at this playlist.

Those songs that she did on that album were great, absolutely great. When I started listening to her, those were the first ones that got me hooked. What I wouldn't give to have a 10th of her talent, I would be dangerous.
