#WeirdWednesday Let's face it: a lot of #Phish's music is weird. But enjoyable. Phish - Gotta Jibboo

The bass line is the soundtrack from SNES Harvest Moon

As our bassist says; 2 chord jam is cool, 1 chord is better. He has dog named Mingus. Mingus don't like comfort. Back to the drawing-board boys..

Song is fun til that repetitive high pitched sound comes in at the beginning of the jam at the end and just ruins the song, my opinion, anyway I'm a Van Morrison fan

also, I think that comping major chords over a bass line with a flat seven sounds pretty cool. Bill Evans did that a lot, do you think he sucks too?

What is your idea of something appropriate? Not repetitive, complex enough for you, with a good enough solo...and not "effeminate"?

Did you live in Cabrini Green lol

Wow. If you playing major chords over thirds and sevenths is somehow mystifying to you, I don't think you need to be telling anyone anything about music. I also like your no doubt often visited logical fallacy that in order to have a valid opinion you must perform better than the person you are criticizing. Welcome to planet Earth have you been here long? Unbelievable.

Also, to your credit, I might only be thinking about when they play it live, but I still think that you weren't paying attention - specifically to the interplay between Page and Mike, Trey and Mike, Page and Trey, and FISH AND EVERYONE ELSE. Seriously, you need to start the video over and listen again.

Repetitive, yes - that's what all non-through-composed tunes are. See You Enjoy Myself for counter-example. Nonsensical? So is Dr. Seuss. Not complex at all? Were you listening? The bass line contains a major third AND a flat seven and somehow Trey and Page are laying major chords over top of it. Listen to Trey's solo, then think about how it relates to the bass line - the arrangement here is brilliant. As for your remarks about Trey's solo - get back in the garage and practice.

They could've let that closing instrumental part go on for about 15 minutes longer....which I'm sure they did at one point or another in concert. I dig the way the looped "siren" goes over and over & at random- not even in time/rhythm with the band. Great stuff, my fave Phish tune.

This song reminds me of my 2 year old nephew watching morning cartoons. Gotta Jibboo would be a great theme song. Well, except for the drinking part.
