I couldn't wait to post this any longer...the song is just too damn good.

This is another rare track from the Phil Lynott/Junior Giscombe collaboration which occurred in the early-mid 1980s. The track is called "Time", but often goes by "Time and Again" in trading circles (although it's rarely traded and very few people have it). Junior has much more of a presence here than in the other two tracks I've posted with him involved. His vocal range is a nice compliment to Lynott's low voice. It's my favorite of the three tracks I've posted from this collaboration.

Enjoy the song!

Lyrics (again people, feel free to help me out here):

Lynott: Girl, there is one thing I think you should know

Oh girl I'm sorry

Please, don't love me, don't leave me, don't go

Oh girl I'm worried

'Cause you did something to change me, my life

Oh how I need ya

Please, believe me, don't leave me, my wife(?)

Oh girl I'm sorry

Time...again and again I will fall

And I need you to stand up

Time...again and again I will fall

Need you darlin'

Junior: Girl, it seems like I just can't go on

And I need(?) you beside me

Why I do what there's(?) no way I do

And I need you to go because

Now there's something that I need to know

Do you love me like I do you?

There's no (one)? that can throw me away (this whole line?)

Then I go back to _______ (?) me, 'cause

Both: Time...again and again I will fall

And I need you stand up

Time...again and again I will fall

And I need you stand up

Time...again and again I will fall

Ohhhh...

Lynott: Uh Oh oh oh uh (etc)

Junior: Ooh Baby...I need to know that you will feel...

I want your love...Oh yeah yeah yeah (etc)

(Junior and Lynott alternate this verse)

Time...I know will ____ (?) to be right

When you know girl I'm sorry

Go...you say that you want to leave

Oh girl I worry

I know that you're gonna be the one

Oh girl I love you

'Cause deep inside of me (heaven knows)?

Oh but I worry...

'Cause time...again and again I will fall

Oh girl I'm sorry

Time...again and again...again and again...again and again

Time...again and again I will fall...stand up

Time...again and again I will fall...

...dance my life away...

Would not have every thought that these two would hook up like that growing up playing mostly r&b. Junior's music I grew up with. But the bass line from Phil was hittin hard. Loved it. It should have came out it would have been a hit for sure.

I have the same philosophy and actively will try to share rare demos and outtakes of artists. Thanks for putting these online - absolutely enamored.

Ha ha. I must have posted that when I was 17. Haven't listened to Lizzy in about a year or two but I clicked on one of their songs yesterday and I'm hooked again and sure again I'm perusing your fine additions. I can't say it enough Blacksab, I've been listening to your videos since I was 16, thanks for years of enjoyment.

Kind of sad to think of what might have been. Lynott might have given Prince a run for his money. I wonder if the demo could be re-mastered somehow without sacrificing the underlying integrity of the recording? I'm not gonna lie, I only discovered Thin Lizzy from a documentary I saw 8 years ago but who hasn't heard The Boys Are Back in Town? Though they are better known for rock, Lynott and Hendrix have the blues in their voices. Lots of soul, so of course, Lynott could've done R&B.

i disagree. this song has heart and soul. that makes a good song (at least to me it does). polished or unpolished, these brothers are singing their hearts out on this track. i dig it.

This is an unfinished demo, not a remastered finished product. You might think it sucks but I can tell you as a listener of both rock, soul and 80's r&b it sounds very good to my ears. If Phil thought it sucked he wouldn't have done it.

I wasn't that he didn't want to, but Junior was spending more time in America and Lynott was always in Britain. Lots of schedule conflicts. There's a few other songs besides these that I'm still working to get a hold of. It should be interesting to see what exactly comes out of the vaults from some other collectors on August 20. I have an upload planned for then and I'm sure other fans have something in store too...at least I hope so.

true. His stuff with Junior was pure gold. D'you know why junior didn't want to do any more stuff with him?
