I played nothing but my Fylde Orsino for about 8 years (professionally) until demands for other styles meant general diversification. I bought this guitar in 1980 when I was 21, so it is now 'vintage' and sounds great. The two demo tunes are Irish jigs: 'Merrily Kissed The Quaker and 'The Blackthorn Stick' and the tuning - also something of a topic of this video - is CGDGAD. Check out the website of my maker: www.navaguitars.co.uk but also check out these immense instruments made by Roger and the guys at www.fyldeguitars.com

HP love it. I got my first school uniform on HP from the local Army and Navy stores; it was not fun going to school as a Japanese Admiral!!!!

@keithchesterton I'm using the Nava all the time now Keith, but every time I play the Orsino, I am reminded of it's quality. All the best.

Sounds really lovely! My first "proper" guitar was an Orsino - have always regretted letting it go! Borrowed one earlier in the year for a few months, which was v nostalgic. Keith

The chat was interesting but the guitar tune at the beginning, oh wow!

A guitar played for a long time just sounds better. I had a $10 second hand, played it for years, broke the neck off and glued it back on, played it another two years, sold it for $10 last month. Miss it.

@bluezhughez Yeah, I remember. I also had that Dick Hebden thing made from balsa wood and a Washburn Woodstock, but not all at the same time! The Fylde was there throughout, although there were times when I was reluctant to take it down the Crown..

@MrDzhimbo Cheers mate. No, just any plastic thumb pick, used as is. All the best.

Lovely playing, Phil. I've occasionally experimented with a thumbpick (I fingerpick either with bare fingers - no nails - or sometimes use hybrid picking) but can't seem to get on with them. What pick do you use, and do you do anything to shape it? Cheers.
