Phil Beer playing the Billy Joel song - The Downeaster 'Alexa' - at The Raven Folk

Club, upstairs at The Bear and Billet pub - http://www.ravenfolk.org.uk/ - Chester, on Sunday 16th January 2011.

Just one song from a really good set.

Filmed with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1.

Sorry about the wobbly bits, but The Billet does serve very good beer :-)

Ya know it almost sounds as if you feel this song even better than Billy Joel. Amazing. Superb.

Billy Joel's version is pure epicness in the sense that his version sounds monumental. This version sounds more like closer to one's heart , because the guy singing it sings it with an honest, raw voice of the common man, a storyteller.

AMAZING performance! Great voice.. pretty similar or even better than Billy Joel. I really love this song and I'm sure this performance is the best cover of it. Congratulations

It's on the top floor of the 'Bear and Billet' pub, Lower Bridge Street, Chester, England, UK. It takes place every Sunday night, starting at 8:30 pm. I've added a link to their website in the description above.

Hi, Sorry, but I'm not Phil Beer. I'm just the person who filmed this. You could try getting in touch with Phil via his facebook page - Or you could try Phil's official website - You could also try getting in touch via the Show Of Hands website - I've tried putting links to the above websites here, but YouTube doesn't seem to like it, so just google them and you should find them. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.

Phil, I have looked at the Tenor Guitar. Very nice. I need some advice. I have a buddy who played in band "back in the day" and now has been playing around on an acoustic base; sounds great. I am bouncing between a mandolin, a concert Uke and a Banjo trying to find a sound where we can have some fun. Besides these, the Tenor Guitar and the basic Guitar, can you recommend something? We pl;ay everything from Foll to Newgrass.
