I agree with you 100%. but after 2004 they kinda took a break, because alex went off with mark ronson after they did that radiohead cover. so I'm hoping the hiatus doesn't last long

thats why their hiatus is even Harder to take...and rolling stone is stupid

ethuhmastuh

yeah phantom planet are pretty damn hard to equal. stupid rolling stone...

I was going to say, I checked out miniature tigers because darren is touring with them and they sounded kinda like PP and the band Rooney is a little similar, but thats all I've got really.

yeah. rolling stone just likes to make comparisons that make them sound smart. the only similarity I know of is the rawness, but other than that, phantom planet is more garage rock and the strokes are more indie rock. and the only band I've found that sounds like phantom planet (at least, how they were in their earlier stages) is miniature tigers, which darren plays lead guitar for now

I've always thought about it that way too, I like the strokes but I really can't make the connection between the two bands...I've been looking for a band thats like Phantom Planet but there just isn't one out there

ethuhmastuh

ah yeah. if I was him, I'd be kinda mad because they kept saying stuff like "while we wait for the next strokes record..." to me, phantom planet doesn't sound liek the strokes... they sound like phantom planet

Rolling Stone magazine put this as the #71 single of 2008 and I was just wondering if any who was there knows what he said about it.

what rolling stone thing?

kthxrae

Yeah, it is. I don't know why anyone thumbed down, because obviously they're hella dumb and weren't listening. Go to Darren's myspace, he says it really is just a hiatus. It just means they don't know when they'll start playing again.

What'd he say about the Rolling Stone thing? because I read it and I want to know what he thought about it...
