that's true, they have changed very drasticaly thru out their career. thy did go pretty emo though and stuck with that for a bit. not that I dislike that but i did avoid them for awhile until i was enlightened by a buddy of their punk years. i think that radio stations need to play AFI's roots because all I hear on rock stations sound like a better version of MCR. (to those who were gonna reply to that mcr piece; im still looking into the but don't appreciate their later stuff)

Listen to all their albums in a row, the change is gradual, it's not like they put out this album, then the next year it was Crash Love. There was a natural progression, a maturing from album to album.

does it make me a poser because I listened to them since I was 2 and still have a great love for the band? Or does that make me a die hard fan? Yes as far as I know Davey DID get throat surgery.. Stop your whining...Asking For It, Anthems For Insubordinates, and A Fire Inside...though they have changed styles they are still kick ass and are fantastic musicians. (they went by the other two names in the days of Very Proud and I think this one..not too sure.)

@LaLiebre408 They got older, the punk angst went away...its what happens in the music business..They are still great. Sure this was better in my opinion..but they will always be my favorite.

Call me crazy but didnt Davey get throat surgery... Im pretty sure that accounts for some of the change in style.

@PsychoFalcon666 I've seen them do "Triple Zero" and "Salt For Your Wounds" the two times I've seen them. I'd love to see them do anything from _Answer That and Stay Fashionable_, though. Preferably "Cereal Wars" or "Half-Empty Bottle"...though EVERY song from that album kicks ass! One of the best punk albums of all time, in my personal opinion!

@AFIfreak4life1 Bands will always evolve, it's what happens after years of being the same band for so long. But AFI on the other hand...oh boy. These fuckers pretty much cut off their whole fan-base with "sing the sorrow" and even more so with "december underground". Ya know, even Slayer will still play "Angel of Death" at their live shows for the real fans. Let's see AFI throw one of these cuts in their shows, then I may have a little more respect from them.

@umbora it didn't happen AFI has always changed their sound, they didn't fall victim to some fad and the concerts I have been too comprised largely of punkers, but also some screaming girls

umbora

@AFIfreak4life1 why so mad? cause its true? go to a afi concert and see that over 80% are emo fans. go to a show back in the day and it was mostly punkers
