@MultiHotNERD I should've written my comment a little more clearly. I know the Supremes were not part of the British invasion - how could they be? - They were from Detroit, Michigan! What I was trying to say was that many of those music acts that made it big in the 1960s - whether American or British - were in their late teens and early 20s. Petula Clark was 32 when "Downtown" hit #1 in the US in 1964. But she was famous in the UK long before then. Ciao.

@searcherboy Nice to see this done live, and these were normally lip-synched. Notice Pet is nowhere near the orchestra, she probably couldn't hear them for all the screaming. She's great nonetheless........

What's so cool about Pet Clark was that not only was she a big part of the British Invasion of the 60s, unlike the members of music acts like the Beatles, the Stones and the Supremes who started to make the scene while in their late teens/early 20s, Petula was already an established singer/actress in the UK (going back to her childhood) who was already in her 30s and married when she hit big here in the USA. Pet, you're still the best!

The cool thing about this is that she's not lip-synching, unlike almost all the clips from 60's hit-parade shows on YouTube. A few notes are off, but you can really hear how good her voice was.
