I actually hated Spheres and Ancientsa also.. Consuming is one of my favorite death metal albums of all time though. The new Pestilence is generic, but its a good kind of generic. lol

I like it because it sounds like the Van Drunen stuff off Consuming and Malleus...the catchy riffs and the drumming by Wildoer is stellar. Have you gone back past Spheres? Spheres was Ok...Mamelli's vox weren't too good then..and Ancients was too far removed from what Pestilence great...They should've changed the band name for that one...history speaks for itself...fans of Ancients are few and far between.

How is releasing incredibly generic music taking the band forward? Spheres and Testimony were landmark albums in Tech Death, the new stuff is so uninspired it hurts. It has nothing that made Pestilence stand out. Seeing Cynic and Atheist working on new material probably heavilly influenced this. The whole thing reeks of cash in.

The album is very well produced and sounds incredible and Patrick Mameli has done an excellent job of preserving the name of Pestilence and taking them forward. Top 10 of 2009 for sure!

Epic? For shure! Sick? Sicker than sick! Amazing, more amazing than anything. This new album of Pestilence is gonna be a new standard in metal-drumming, riffing, vox and all that. Thanx to all the guys who made this happen. Pat.
