The most commercially successful version of "Blowin' in the Wind" was recorded by folk music trio Peter, Paul and Mary, who released the song in June 1963, three weeks after The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan was issued. The trio's version, which was used as the title track of their third album, peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts. The group's version also went to number one on the Middle-Road charts for five weeks.

Lyrics:

How many roads must a man walk down

Before they call him a man?

How many seas must a white dove sail

Before she sleeps in the sand?

How many times must the cannonballs fly

Before they're forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind.

How many years must a mountain exist

Before it is washed to the sea?

How many years can some people exist

Before they're allowed to be free?

How many times can a man turn his head

and pretend that he just doesn't see?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind.

How many times must a man look up

Before he can see the sky?

How many ears must one man have

Before he can hear people cry?

How many deaths will it take till he knows

That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind.

I always loved this song, even before I understood they lyrics when my parents would play it. Then as I got older and understood, I loved it even more.

I listened to them as a teenager. It still brings a tear to my eye. They tried. We've accomplished so little.

Now adays...I don't keep up with the latest trends...most to of today's artist's promote filth and every thing that is bringing our country down. I still hold true to that which lifts up my soal and gives hope. I pray that my country will wake up....and see a country without faith cannot prosper.

bob Dylan may have wrote it and did it 1st, but peter, paul, & mary perfected it. perhaps the greatest anti-war, peace song ever composed. I grew up in the viet nam war era and was just a little too young to have been drafted at that time. but this song should be played every time two world leaders ever even consider going to war again. thank you bob and rest well mary. you will never be forgotten
