I think the main reason why Pere Ubu's version is so much better is the music. They had a crushing live drummer and here you get a limpdick drum machine. The dynamics of the original just blow this away. No contest. I will say I dig Murphy's voice slightly more than David Thomas and I heard his version first. This was the first thing I heard him do since the 1983 breakup of Bauhaus. I wish I could take Peter's voice and put it on the Pere Ubu version. Now that would crush tenfold.8 years ago
