Isn't it ironic that none of the predatory DJ's on TOTP seemed to have any self control either . The dirty rotters.

....phil collins on drums ( when he was interesting ), Kate bush on backing and Gabriel driving hard like a sledgehammer......maximum impact. I'm loving that marimba sound !

Saw this the night it went out. Stared at telly open mouthed. Next day at school, talked about it with friends. Stared at each other, open-mouthed.

No Selfcontrol - Peter Gabriel (für mich ein Marketing Genie, das nach seinem Austritt bei Genesis sich selbst optimal vermarktete)

Its hard to say that Peter Gabriel was year's ahead of his time because his music is truly ageless...if this track was released today it would sound as fresh as it did in 1980. Unreal!

In the studio version, which infact is the one and the same with his one Gabriel is backed by his Pal Phil Collins, the godess Kate Bush and Robert Fripp of king Crimson,

A nation hid behind its sofas when this went out on ToTP. Or, more likely, sat there mildly bemused by something that didn't quite compute. Because it was too good.
