my wife says it's a yawner. which cracked me up nicely, but you know peter buck doesn't have to do anything for the duration, and he will still be better than most of the rest of the pretentious trash heap, and this song is funny... richard nixon was a model for things to come: our current slime-bucket politicians swimming in the insipid rhetorical effluvia of their lives, and this music simply, and nicely apes this dynamic10 years ago

Kinda. I felt R.E.M. did a lot to hurt their reputation with Collapse into Now and Around the Sun. Peter Buck, my hero, has little left to offer as a musician if he's going to rely on the same sound he's used with R.E.M. and Minus 5 for the past decade. I was entirely underwhelmed by this record, but that doesn't matter. It still sold, and there are fans, particularly women, who will buy anything he puts out. Kudos to Michael Stipe for gracefully bowing out.10 years ago
