back in 1980 when this album came out i taped it on a tascam A440 reel to reel. if a person ever needed an anthem then this is mine. with the old girlfriend sleeping in bed up on stebbing road i sat up and indulged in this. i still have vivid memories of the night.

Pete mentions this is one of his most proud of songs that perhaps fall into the LOVE category came out of a conversation with Meher Baba followers (his secretary? IIRC) who said a Little Is Enough when Pete asked about his wife Karen's response if he still loved him, and their relationship was seriously strained by that point, as you can imagine, they'd started their family in the 1960s!

if a story is told does anybody listen? you better you bet. this is my absolute favourite townshend tune and i' ve played it for the masses on guitar and piano (no money earned) it starts slow and builds and calms and builds and so on. just like a sailor heading into the sea. the gale is townshend' s genius. what an artist. tell me, is there anybody else this good? is there?
