John Denvers version is so beautiful.. His brother was drafted to Vietnam the day he was singing it at a peace rally.. No more following psychopaths into war...

Cornelis Vreeswijk's version sung in Swedish is easily the best one.

Idiotic introduction - absolutely superfluous.

Matthew 24:6-7New King James Version (NKJV)6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places.

Great song! I also really like Simon and Garfunkel's version. I'm not seeking to compare them, just to appreciate both.

Buddhist monk, 'You can have all the peace in the world in your heart, but you cannot sleep next to a mad dog.' sleeping with his rifle. Better to sing a song that those who wish to destroy others be themselves destroyed. Then there will be no more war, because peace-loving folks donÄt seek to destroy others.

Pete like 'Im eyn ani li mi li' in which he said all the wisdom of the world was contained.

War is business, so it will never end as long as there are humans,we can only hope that a meteorite will all end this just as it did with the dinosaurs.
