Who knew. I knew he could sing but what a great version of this song. Please listen to this song by the Rankin Family and hear the words sung by Heather.

I sit and try to think the right words say about the song. It's my favorite out of all the songs he sings. His voice just has a way of going straight to your heart. Thank you Pernell. and thank you for this "wonderful" post :)

Nope you're not alone I'm 21 and didn't know that he was such a good singer in fact didn't know that there was someone that had such a beautiful voice like him. My mom was a little girl when BONANZA was on air and she's a fan so is my grandma..My favorite is Adam, then Ben Hoss and Joe...they are all amazing actors though may they R.I.P. Thanks for uploading. This song actually made me cry a little.

What a wonderful song, & it turns to shear magic when sings it. He has such a beautiful voice. When he sings, it's as if time stands still for that 3:17 sec. All you hear is his voice till the song is over, nothing else just him.. and like I said , his voice is magic. Thank you so much for this post

Great, beautiful song. Find the live version here by Luminere, and also Happy Traum's recording of it, originally on Kicking Mule (might be on Vestapol or Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop label).

Hi Gene McNutt - Pernell Roberts was known for his lifelong activism, which included participation in the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965; also pressuring NBC to refrain from hiring whites to portray minority characters. :-)

Wanda, in what way did Pernell stand up for his convictions and the rights of others? I never knew anything about him personally.

Fell in love with this man when I was only 12 years old when I first saw him as the dark and handsome Adam on Bonanza.....in 1963 got a chance to hear him sing this song and fell in love with the deep strong voice of a very passionate man.
