People always complain about how simple the guitar is in these kinds of songs. In different genres of music different instruments have more importance in the songs. These kinds of songs are drum orientated and the guitar follows the drum kick line for the most part to make this kind of metal sound more pumpy and deep.

Spencer wasn't that great on this album, that's for sure. His voice is so much better on Periphery II, if you ask me. He ditched the whiny scream for a power fry-esque shout, and his cleans improved a lot, too. I still enjoy some of Periphery's older stuff, but Spencer's vocals here kill it for me a little.
