Patricia is a song in the Cha-Cha genre by (Damaso) Perez Prado (1916-89), a Cuban born orchestra leader and keyboard artist, singer and composer. Written in 1958 it reached No. 1 in the charts and was later used in at least three movies and two TV series. It followed his other No.1 hit "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" in 1955 which was used in the movie "Underwater!" with Jane Russell (1954). The most popular version of the song was the instrumental dance tune played here, however it did have lyrics. The latin lyrics may have been considered to "racy" for U.S. audiences in the 1950s, (see link below to original lyrics with translation). The English version included here is quite different although it leaves no doubt as to Patricia's allure. Perry Como had a song named "Patricia" in 1950 but it has no resemblance to Prados. Dedicated to P.W.
