Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, K.D. Lang...women writing their own music. It's just MPL did it in an era where it was pushing the envelope...

Totally agree. Time for a movie! Her life wasn't always pretty and yet she did so many amazing things...

She is fantastic, and can make any song her own. There is one other woman singer in her league...jo stafford.

Making this classic Blues song 'swing' was her idea.

I'm just picturing Elvis making an entrance to this.

Superb... Peggy Lee was Ice Jazz..... this clip is from a DVD of a TV show called Fever: the Music of Peggy Lee, which is a terrific 60-minute doc of the great singer.

"See See Rider", also known as "C.C. Rider" or "See See Rider Blues" or "Easy Rider" is a popular American 12-bar blues song. It was first recorded by Gertrude "Ma" Rainey in 1924, and since then has been recorded by many other artists; including Peggy Lee and Rory Emerald. ♥

She was one of my favourites and saw her at least 4 times; anyhow, guys, there were so many fantastic female jazz singers, so check em out: Chris Connors, Anita O'Day, Sarah, Ella, Carmen McRae, Helen Merill, June Christy. Just be careful when you say best! Certainly among the best of the best.
