Welcome back to our last song in this session of our composers of the night, which has magically turned into round about noon...This is dedicated to my friend, who I just visited...I got caught up with all of the fun we were having, and I lost track of time...funny how time slips away! Now Davy has returned with this beautiful opener ,which I am going to use as a closer for this broadcast! When the musical "Oklahoma" begins, a soft quiet song is sung entitled "Oh What A Beautiful Morning"...Miss Peggy Lee knew how to sing a song in a very quiet way inside the silence of a pastoral scene, which Hammerstein loved to write lyrics about....who could possibly have imagined this image other than Hammerstein where the :"Corn is as high/As an elephant's eye/And it looks like it's climbing way up to the sky"...again, Hammerstein personifies nature to great effect, and we actually visualize, in our mind's eye, a corn stalk actually attempting to climb towards the sky! Miss Peggy Lee delivers this song, vividly telling us of the simple joys that you find in the morning...a beautiful morning and this optimistic view that "everything's going my way"! There's a very old adage that says,"Let your smile, be your umbrella" ...just let your positive outlook on life prevent any rain or pain from interrupting your beautiful day! This is David's Broadway Station, and I'm very happy that you tuned into our show...22.2 FM on your radio dial...Miss Peggy Lee was the type of person who loved to love people. She always wished people the very best, and she sang a song entitled "Here's To You" and after she sings the song, she wishes you "angels on your pillow"... I have always believed that my angels on my pillow are the wonderful singers who have been my mentors, teaching me in a song, that love is really all that matters!
