Pearl and the Beard, who promise they love you the way you've always been, are Jocelyn Mackenzie, Emily Hope Price, and Jeremy Styles: three voices, one cello, one guitar, one glockenspiel, one melodica, several drums, one accordion, ninety-six teeth, and one soul. Pearl and the Beard achieve a soft, acoustic folk resonance and theatrically deliver dark and haunting lyrics.

After a chance meeting with the trio at an art space in Greenpoint, followed by a long game of email tennis, we finally arranged to film with Pearl and the Beard in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. It was a warm day and we met Jeremy at the entrance to the park, who lead us to Jocelyn and Emily who were setting up near by at the band stand. The guys performed three songs there, attracting quite a crowd, including a number of very excited children. As if three amazing songs weren't enough, the guys took a walk to the cover of a nearby bridge to perform one final song, a cover of Sarah Saskind's 'Lovin's for Fools'

Thank you to the magical Pearl and the Beard, for the magical Secret Sound Shop #19

It's called Devil's Head Down, I think. I'm not sure if it's on iTunes but that should make it easier to find! :)

I'm really rooting for these guys to get disgustingly successful and rich, they deserve it so much. Excellent music.

A couple of my molars have gone missing over the years, but I like this just the same. : ] Given the overwhelming amount of fodder that gets blasted from the YouTube cannon, I tend to be verbose and -- say it isn't so -- bombastic in my comments here. Pearl and the Beard earn nothing but praise from this armchair critic. Nice vocals. I don't recall if I'd heard of the trio before, but 'Prodigal Daughter' was certainly my first direct exposure. Ever play Albany? Next up; 'Lovin's For Fools'. Bye.
