They've come to represent everything that is bland and torpid with "indie" music these days I guess. Bands used to sound like Pavement or Pixies. Now they sound like Coldplay and (much worse) Oasis. I just find them a bit dull to be honest.

Why all the rabid hate for Coldplay fans? Yeah they ripped off "Here," and aren't the greatest band out there.... But they have a few good tracks... And, those who get all up and arms about people who like a band they despise are some of the worst human beings in the world. Enjoy the music, and move on..... Pavement is great, I'm not a Coldplay fan, but the string arrangement in Viva La Vida still makes the hairs on my arm stand up....
