Columbia 2297 - This Song Peaked On US Billboard At #1 In 1930 (15 weeks) - Vocals: Jack Fulton

Paul Samuel Whiteman (March 28, 1890 -- December 29, 1967) was an American bandleader and orchestral director.

Body and Soul is a popular song written in 1930 by Edward Heyman, Robert Sour, Frank Eyton and Johnny Green. Rising quickly to popularity, Libby Holman introduced it in the revue Three's a Crowd and it was used as the theme to the 1947 film, Body and Soul.

Like many pop songs of the time, it became a jazz standard, with hundreds of versions performed and recorded by dozens of artists.

Recorded on October 10, 1930- coincidentally, on that day, Leo Reisman recorded his 17th take {!} of the song for Victor, with Frances Maddux as his vocalist....
