I use a sapphire tip needle ( which I altered slightly) on my 1925 orthophonic Victrola and there is no record dust (Not as abrasive as a steel needle) and it also cuts out nearly all of the surface noise. It has such a clear tone that I have used it with a mike in front of it for radio broadcasting!

I remember this tune being played in the movie "International House" and always liked it. I hope to learn it for an upcoming Theatre Organ social I will be playing.

Personaaly I NEVER thought Whiteman as the king of jazz (Louis Armstrong IS)...but he has some good sides in 1927-29. I got this record, and it's not bad ;)......

Playing a great record like this on an ancient windup record grinder would be a discrace

Good recording, but would sound a whole lot better on real 78-playing equipment. i.e. a good quality wind-up grammophone. This sound quite muffled like the tone is set too low.

I have quad surround sound speakers. I can barely hear the bass.

Use an equalizer and roll off some of that bass!!!!

Muted Trumpet solo is by Bunny Berigan at 2:10, this is at the period taht I think that Whiteman sounded his most polished.
