Recorded April, 1966. This is the version that Columbia would not release as a single!

1:05 Different lyrics in second verse:

"There's a custom tailored world that I gotta own, yeah

With a penthouse in the sky and we'll both stay stoned, uh huh..."

1:55 Different instrumentation in second refrain, and additional lyrics before last refrain. Enjoy!

I've always loved this version . I don't think they ever would have released it as a singe , it's a little rough and raw. That's not a put-down at all , though....I always figured Revere did'nt want the lyrics about "..We can both stay stoned...." on the record.

Just the rarity I wanted as word of Revere's R.I.P. came through. I loved how it was his band and yet Mark was the star - a very special Raider indeed. Mark gave so much as the frontman, but in back was this big, stable, funny guy keeping the beat, manning the helm and even stepping out for the occasional vocal, like the funky blues to his wife, Leslie. One of the great upbeat bands of their era!

I haven't heard this song in a long time. This is just one more of their rockers! Anyways, I liked those costumes!

It was a dark day when this Rock'n' Roll icon passed form this earth to the Home in Heaven. We will miss his great music and his fun personality, but Heaven will be richer for it. He is there now entertaining those whom have gone before us, and he will be there to entertain us once again someday. I was there from the beginning, have all of the original band's albums and have loved them from day one. Their music, their fun on stage; and, if you have ever been one of the lucky ones who had one of his three-cornered hats sent flying out to you from stage AND still have that hat, you have truly been blessed for it! Their music was always so fun to dance to also. RIP Paul and hope to see you on the other side someday. God bless you for the legacy you have left us.

just too long for an AM radio single 45 in 1966, so groups began to put slightly different tracks on albums, that is why people started buying LP's, giving birth to "alternative" everything.

Its a shame Paul passed. Their hits from the late 60s and early 70s were some of the best pop on commercial/AM radio. The band had little or nothing to do with the instrumental part of the recordings though as the studio aces of the west coast performed all those great tracks with Mark Lindsay's voice. That's probably why they'll never get considered for the RR HOF.
