London Town (1978)

----------------------------

You're talking to me from the back of my car

And i can't get nothing right

And then you wonder why stand at the bar

Day and night

Chorus:

I've had enough

I can't put up with any more

No no no no no no no

I've had enough

I can't put up with any more

No no no no no no no

You stand behind me with a watch in your hand

And i can't get nothing done

Well, people tell me you're punctual man

But come on

Chorus

I earn the money and you take it away

When i don't know where you're from

I should be worried but they say

It'll pay for a bomb

Chorus

I've had enough

Baby you know sometimes you get a little weary

But if it ever happens honey

You just come along to me

Because you know

Chorus

I actually meant the album "Ring Ring". Kind of interested in their anthology now.

Listening to the greatest hits now. I really like S.O.S. Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols admitted that he got the riff for "Pretty Vacant" from S.O.S. :-) I forgot about "Fernando" which is another ABBA tune I really like.

I'm really glad we've had this exchange. I'm listening to "Ring Ring" by ABBA and it's fantastic! Sorry for my complete ignorance about what a great band they truly were. All their albums are on YouTube so I have a lot of catching up to do. hehe. Yeah, 100 degrees is way too hot. It's actually 103 and it's nearly 4pm here. Crazy. I lived in London for a year back in the late 80's and I actually really enjoyed the English weather for the most part. K, well a bit too much rain at times. :-)

I feel exactly the same about Sandinista. I do really like "Dancing Queen" and reading your praise for Abba has made me decide to go explore their music and give it a second chance. :-) Cheers from southern California where it's expected to be over 100 degrees today. Please make the heat go away! :-)

London Calling is my favorite Clash album as well and I agree about Sandinista. I'm a huge Clash fan but that should have been a single album. Way too much bad filler. I guess the bottom line is that at the end of the day, personal taste is just that...Personal taste. :-) Cheers. Oh and my favorite band is the Beatles too. I can't think of one rock band today who wasn't in some way influenced by the Beatles.

Some other really good albums of 1978 off the top of my head. Elvis Costello - Last Year's Model The Jam - All Mod Cons - Great fucking album. The Police - Outlandos D'Amour Blondie - Parallel Lines Patti Smith - Easter

We shall agree to disagree about Abba which is perfectly OK. :-) The Clash released "Give Em' Enough Rope" in 1978. Not as good as their first album but still a few great songs on it. The Cars first album came out in 78 and is pretty damn good too. They were hated in England when they toured there for being musically proficient. :-) God forbid.
