Keep in mind Rolling Stone also gave Mick Jagger's 'Goddess in the Doorway' a 5-star classic rating upon release. While the record isn't horrible, it is certainly not a 5-star record. I think Wenner has actually joked in hindsight about the rating being "over the top".

I can't believe you didn't mention 'All Things Must Pass' in your list of best post-Beatles solo records. 'All Things Must Pass' is, by far, the best post-Beatles solo record. However, I do agree 'Ram', 'Band on the Run' and 'Double Fantasy' are all fine as well.

This is with out doubt one of the best albums McCartney did, so many killer tracks , I could never understand why Rolling Stone did not like it .It's nice to see that it has had a new life with this new release

The album was savaged on its release in 1971. Most critics hated it. Finally, it is receiving the praise it fully deserves. A joyous, inventive, brilliant record. Every track is a gem.

This man speaks the truth. Jon Landau of Rolling Stone, called this album when it came out, "incredibly inconsequential" and "monumentally irrelevant". Landau has recently recanted his statements with the release of this boxed set. IMO, this is the best post-Beatles solo album.... period. The only ones that could come close would be Band on the Run, or Double Fantasy.

I want to tell everyone something. I lived through this period. There's something stunningly WEIRD about this album I want everyone to know who wasn't alive then. IT RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE REVIEWS FROM THE ROCK PRESS!!! I know that's almost too bizarre to be believed but believe me it's true. The "Rolling Stone" ones were particularly nasty. I know, I know. I thought this was the greatest album by any post-beatle. And I still do. That's the kind of person Jan Wenner is. f-him.

I love "Ram". It's is Paul's most underrated album and my favorite after BOTR! Amazing melodies and God, that voice!

Love this album. My fave Macca vinyl. The only thing missing is "Get On The Right Thing,'' which was recorded during the Ram sessions. Fucking love that song.

so pleased Paul is doing this...though I'd hoped he would do a Ram Sessions thing with all the tracks recorded , including those not released but...delighted anyways and lets see if the best album he ever did does indeed include all the left off tracks...especially Little Lamb Dragonfly...la lol yes, i come from huyton on murkeyside and hence the 'la, reference

Ram is awesome. Easily on par with the Beatles albums and his best post-Beatles album ever.
