The lyrics are special, and this is storytelling at its best, like Paul Kelly does. Still, just like the album I bought so many years ago, it is the beautiful guitar work (and piano on the album version I have which was branded Paul Kelly and the Messengers, and not 'the Coloured Girls') that launches the story so well and lets it flow. A matilda from Boonah first tuned me(!) into PK. He is a gift. Caught he and Dan at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival in about 2003 - deluxe. To Her Door is an awesome song and should resonate with any poor bloke who has met "the" woman and never been the same. Top Aussie song of all time in my opinion. He gets better every year but PK and the Colored Girls (later Messengers) were signature for the era.
