Heather was in regular contact with her biological father. The People article on Linda's death reported that she called him to let him know about Linda's death. As to why he allowed Paul to legally adopt Heather, I don't know. As to using the McCartney name (1) it is legally her name and (2) growing up, it would give her the same surname as her siblings who were the products of Paul and Linda's marriage.

Just wondered'I did read a book on Linda and it told of her life with her daughter Heather before Paul...what happen to her real Father?It never stated any thing....Did he not want her?..I know Paul became her Father'but he was not always.

It's sad that Paul and family lived out remaining years without Linda. She was such a positive for him and their family and they always seemed so much in love. RIP, Linda McCartney. Celebrity families tend to be so messed up in the head drug addicts but Paul and Linda actually parented their kids and they grew up stable as a result.
