I love this song. I first heard him sing it in a live concert in Limerick in 1986. I was visiting from New Zealand and staying with friends (of my sister's) who lived in Glin (and still do. I had never heard of him but so pleased they bought me a ticket to go to the concert with them!8 years ago

An evocative sparse piano intro alongside (I think) the guitarist is Phil Palmer ... this sound was very popular a la Christopher Cross. One of Bradys top tunes......When he sings the line 'For all I ask... is that you want me ....for a friend' it always makes me well up inside .... very emotional song well sung .... Paul Young did a version of this .... but added nothing to it at all.9 years ago

Paul certainly wrote a beauty here...though I just now discovered it's authorship. Appreciate any one who knows a male/female duet that's on a recording from say about mid 90's. Seems like it was John Prine and one of the several female singers (including wives and ex's), it could have been one of several similar artist though.
