love her voice. i spent the last little while listening to snippets of covers of this song... some were really good, but they all left me wanting to hear the real thing... Patty is such a truly gifted singer.

To those who are calling this pop country: I'd like to point out that this is circa 1989, which by today's standards make it an "oldie," and nothing like the pop of its time Sure, the lyrics aren't stellar but at the time it was written, "Timber, I'm falling in love" was an original idea and a quite clever play on words. Today's pop/bro country is all out of original ideas and they've not solidified their status as country legends - icons they may be because of a certain target audience. Patty Loveless can get away with a "poppy" song because she's earned the right to do so. But I'm not convinced poppy should be used to describe this song. Upbeat isn't synonymous with poppy. I don't know what time it's in, but this is a swing beat, great for a honky tonk. Patty didn't step or of her shoes to record this one. She just changed the tempo.
