I've been fortunate enough to see Patti Smith live over the years. She's amazing. She has a clear, pure, powerful voice and a total command of the stage. I don't know if it's something in personality or because she's such a seasoned performer (or a bit of both) but when she walks into the spotlight she owns the room. You just can't take your eyes off her.
