i like how there are no lyrics, but you know exactly the part where he would say "the last train home, the last train home"

This brings back some bitter sweet memoriesMe my granddad, his Egyptian friend, A rather aloof Frenchman, some dog we found, and some kid that tried to kill me, we all had to go on this trip to Egypt to talk down an old family member who made my mother sick..But...Some of them didn't make it back..

trains were always our familys favorite way to travel. daddy worked as a ticket clerk at 30th st station in penn so we got to ride them and we always rode up there after they moved to fl.

Ha llegado el momento de seguir adelante....las estaciones están cambiando...dejando lo viejo para abrazar la nueva....terreno desconocido me espera....los sentimientos de tristeza mezclada con alegria mueve dentro de mi....ven la muerte dulce, ven.

The time has come to move on.....the seasons are changing....leaving the old to embrace the new....unfamiliar ground awaits me....the feelings of sadness mixed with gladness moves within me....come sweet death, come.

Trains are so "old school" and that's why they are so endearing to me.  As I like to call myself I am a "analog guy" in a digital world!.

Paul Miron, your comments left here five years ago are poetry to my soul. You wrote, "Hop a train, live a vibrant life. Vagabonds welcomed, snow optional. Who knows where you'll end up? What a sweet tune, thank you Pat." I've loved this song since I first heard it in 1988, but haven't heard it in years, but my soul in this 60 yr old body called out for it and found this video on You Tube. I've listened to it for hours on end and could/have sobbed and wept for 15, 30 minutes. I've never had a song touch me like this one. Thank you, Pat, and Paul. Time for me to hop a new train. Snow is definitely welcome. Vagabonds and, my favorite, shenanigans, are also welcome!

Too literal for me-this song and its title are a metaphor...for saying goodbye, on your way to heaven. Just my take way.
