On this day in 1957 {Oct. 3rd} Pat Boone performed "Love Letters in the Sands" on the premier of his ABC-TV program 'The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom'. Five months earlier on May 6th it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; and on June 10th it peaked at #1 {for 5 weeks} and spent well over a half-year on the Top 100 {34 weeks}. The record's B-side, "Bernardine", also charted, it reached #14 and stayed on the Top 100 for almost a half-year {25 weeks}. Both songs were featured in the movie 'Bernardine'.
