Don't insult people and expect anyone to take your arguments seriously. You are right that music can live on the radio for a long time. An example of that is classic rock, but that's because my parents grew up on that and are getting paychecks and advertisers like that. Yes, a band like Passion Pit could easily go to the radio and die as a band, even if the music they made for the radio lasts because the musical foundations isn't for the radio at all.

They play those songs because they have catchy chorus' (choruses?), and catchy chorus' (choruses?) are what makes for good radio. Get someone singing along (which people usually do with the chorus, considering it is the most recognizable) and you keep them on your channel, which means advertisers will go to you. They won't be playing any other music from the album unless it attracts advertisers.
