This video is one of eight piano solo arrangements of Pachelbel's famous Canon in D, ranging from easy to difficult, with scores.

The Lyapunov arrangement featured in my recent video came free with a sign-up to http://www.pianostreet.com/ this is going back a few years. I can't see the Lyapunov arrangement today, only an "H.M" arrangement, which is very different. You can also download this "H.M" arrangement from IMSLP: see the "arrangements and transcriptions tab" and scroll to the bottom: http://imslp.org/wiki/Canon_and_Gigue_in_D_major_%28Pachelbel,_Johann%29

According to IMSLP, Lyapunov's music is in the public domain "Aleksandr Lyapunov 1857-1918" http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Lyapunov,_Sergey so with a clear conscience have added his arrangement to my Goggle Drive for those that would like to play it too, as it doesn't appear in either a Pachabel Canon search or on Lyapunov's own IMSLP page of original compositions:

Pachabel Canon in D arr. Lyapunov https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzwr-5tDUtSESEI0Sm1jR2Q3UW8/view?usp=sharing

Another quite "easy" arrangement and soothing to play is by Oborin. http://www.pianostreet.com/pachelbel-sheet-music/arrangements-of-canon-in-d/canon-d-arr-oborin-d-major.htm

Just looking through Lyapunov's own compositions at IMSLP and his Barcarolle caught my eye:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

Pachelbel Canon in D works well with the harmonic pedal as the bass note can be held with HP sostenuto, staccato notes played in resonance. In this recording I added the sustain towards the end of the crescendo.

About dynamics. When I play the Canon, after the introduction I make a long crescendo to the middle, return to quiet again and start another long crescendo to the end. This is a little different to the dynamics indicated in the piano version featured in the video but is instead similar to the dynamics when the Canon is played by an orchestra.

Lyapunov has a wonderful set of transcendental etudes.

It would have been great to see Paul playing and get some inspiration on the fingering...

This performance was far more soothing than most string ensembles I have heard in the past. Great arrangement and greater musicianship altogether. Thank you

i love the way the piano can manipulate sound. First off, wonderful performance. Second, I thought his soft playing was a volume mistake I made. You are a great player. I barely can play novice pieces, but I dream to be as good as someone like you
