I dont really get the appeal, it has nothing to it. Im not going to talk about the video because it has nothing to do with the music.

Given the "twin"-related imagery, it could be, but only a portion of the story.

is this a story about incest?

Forgot about the window: Basically, Owen is playing god and trying to control reality. When he touches a panel, Owen controls the object appearing on it, or rather, what the object really represents. It's way more complicated than that though and would take up too much space here to explain. I do have a blog where I analyze all of this stuff in detail, but I don't want to link it here yet. It isn't hard to find though. Hope my ideas were somewhat helpful. Feel free to ask any other questions.

My take: -the ritual is how Owen breaks off his "relationship" with Alison Pill's character -The hatted people on the roof are who the ritual is for. I see them as the Fates, the witches in Macbeth, or Id, Ego and Superego. Any one of them works, but the witches is easiest. -The soap is a solution for the blood on Owen's hands, as he couldn't get rid of it just using water. It's also his first offering to the witches. -The boys shown at the end are the ritual's second offering and sacrifice.

Actually I watched it again carefully and I think I am missing was it's meant to be about. Genuinely, I might be missing some references so could you explain what the ritualistic stuff is about, what role Owen is meant to be in with his control panels, etc.

Fair enough if you like it. I was just passionately disappointed. I'll admit that whilst much of my reason for disliking it so much is ad hominem - that is I dislike my impression of the person who made it (somebody who believes that the attention seeking antics of themselves and their friends are in some transcendent way inspired in the way that we all felt ingenious and superior when we were teenagers). However, if you got something out of it there's no shortage of stuff in it so fair enough.

If you want to make huge assumptions, then I'll go ahead and make the assumption that you don't get the video and, because of that, the director must not understand the music. Try again.
