@cmlbob I agree! And it's not just the Opry nearly everything coming off of Music Row is total garbage. Bring the Opry back to the Ryman and kick the Pop Country Crap off of 16th Avenue! And whatever happened to country stars doing gospel songs? Maybe theres not enough money in gospel songs for these new so called country artists.

Some of the old, some of the new, either way there's allway's artist who don't cut so enjoy the fact that "COUNTRY MUSIC" was then,as is now the music of the common hard working blue collar redneck american,so grab a beer,or cup of joe & enjoy it or leave it.

Worth listening to ALL of the music out there either on record or radio, there're many new country singers holding true to the traditional sound if you look hard enough - maybe not as commercially successful as their "popular" peers... Porter, George, Merle, Charley, Waylon, Kris, Hank and such all recorded crossover stuff - gotta pay the bills.

@MrMrMoto And it is a disgrace what Gaylord has done to the Opry. Roy Acuff would roll over in his grave if he knew. I went there in '06.............I left with a bad headache from the loud wild music they played. Outside of the few legends I got to see, it was like attending a rock concert from the seventies!! I won't go back as long as Gaylord has it and allows the trash to contiune!! Ninety percent of those "New Country Singers" don't deserve to stand in that circle!!!

@thiskiwigal That was the whole thing about the older generation............they DIDN'T all sound the same. It's hard to tell one singer from another in todays market. The fans had a lot of say with country radio back then. Today, it's all about the powers that be forcing us to listen to what they dish out. I've talked to more than one new artist who'd love to sing the old styles but aren't allowed to. I don't think that will change until folks stop listening. God bless the legends.

I wish everyone would stop slagging off newcomers to singing. These wonderful older singers were not experts the moment they started singing. I'm sure that , gracious as these stars are or were, they would say give the younger ones a chance to grow , mature and get some experience under their belts. It would be boring if everyone sounded like Porter or Jim Reeves or any one of those others who I so love. I can love and appreciate them and still enjoy the younger ones coming up.

I wonder how all these new I wouldnt call the country singers but whatever. I wonder how they feel disgracing the opry and all these legends of real country music.

I didn't hear George Jones, either, as some have mentioned. I assume the one who put this together thought there wouldn't be a big viewing total unless George's name was added to it? Fans of Porter and those who appreciate the Grand Ole Opry know the Ryman Auditorium is nick-named "The Mother Church of Country Music". George's name didn't need to be added on to generate even more views which is how it comes across. Porter and, or, the Opry have a strong enough fan base to generate views.

I remember this song. The original video to the song is great. Has Accuf, Dolly, etc. Wish I could find it.
