What I want to know is how the hell did emo/screamo become one of the most misused labels in hardcore punk ever?

I wish I could find some jazz like this, would love to listen to some jazz that doesn't sound like it would be a intro to a 90s news station.

I made the mistake of playing this at 5am and turning it up thinking it wasn't playing. XDGOODMORNING

I like Attack Attack! But they aren't Screamo, they're deathcore. House vs Hurricane is my life.

Exactly. That's really useful because I don't want screamo to be confused with any metal genre.

Please, just stop hating genres for the sake of being edgy. Musical genres and categorization are very useful, as they are more specific ways of finding music similar to the music you already listen to. Dick.

he's referring to growling/shrieking. Those bands just added grit to their cleans.

This is much closer to power violence then modern screamo. Lots of people refer bands like these as emo violence just to get away from being called screamo

No hate. I'm not trying to shoot down what you're saying, just hoping for a bit of discussion.

orchid has been around since 1997 and i dont consider "harsh vocals" screaming, i see where your coming from but this entire argument is all up to who interprets what, i feel that orchid is one of the pioneers of the "screamo" genre and helped bring the vocal theme of screaming to modern metal and hardcore. send all of the hate replies as you want, I'm just sharing what i find as true

Heh. Death and thrash metal bands started using harsh vocals in the 80s. By 1998, Death's vocals had turned into straight up screams. I know that they're not exactly the same kind of screams, but they count. The type of screaming this band does, however, I don't know of any earlier examples. I never really looked too deep into it though
