Why should he make electronic music that sounds like already existing instruments? The wonder of edm is that you can create whatever you want without any boundaries of analogue instruments. Or are you implying that this kind of music is for uneducated uncultured people? And wasting his talents? Dude, it's Hardcore what do you mean "without the bass", you cant justify that unless you want him to do a different genre of music (which he could, but not his passion). I like some of his melody's to the point that i believe they could be Hollywood worthy. Without the bass it would be incomplete or it would already be a diff genre, urging him to alter it even more to make it fit. He will never be wasting his talents unless he believes himself that he is.
