oh fuck, get over it, I love this track as much as the next guy but really, genius? comparing it to Bach and beethoven? it's six notes repeated and layered with five synth sounds, a hanfull of sampled and not so well edited drums someone else played and some winding clock samples, that's it, that's the entire, very short song. Entertaining? sure, musical genius? give me a break, I love amon but this "musical gift" shit is laughable at best, comparing amon Tobin to Bach is like comparing a child who is amazingly good at coloring in the lines with Michelangelo.

absolutely... time and again, initial impressions have to be ignored if you are to penetrate to the level the artist is exploring. in this case, Amon Tobin is speaking very clearly... it just takes time to hear what he's saying

I saw the ISAM show live, and I think the music really just loses something without the visuals. Live it was a really fantastic experience, but going back and listening to just the music it didn't have nearly as much impact. At least some of the audio is only happening to support something happening "on screen" at that moment, so without any screen there it just feels arbitrary. Still some interesting stuff on the album but I don't think it was really designed to stand alone.

I don't know, I like the versatility this demonstrates on his part, but I know why I love Amon Tobin, and if this is what he turns into, I'm gonna be bummed. But that doesn't make ISAM a terrible album.

I don't like most of the old albums. They have to much lo-fi samples that make the overall mix sound muddy. ISAM is the first album that sounds high fidelty all the way through. Even the 'dirt' sounds great on this album. ISAM is futuristic, strange, epic and beautiful, it's just p e r f e c t . . .
