The Byrds' 1968 masterpiece "SWEETHEART of the RODEO" is this week's (Week #17) album pick for MY NEW YEARS' RESOLUTION to LISTEN to ONE GREAT ALBUM EACH WEEK for the WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR! And being a huge Byrds' fan, it's a doozy. One of my all-time favorites!

I think it's the best track of this strange country album of The Byrds !

Clarence White - great guitarist no doubt, but too flashy by half for the Byrds. That's my view.

Gram Parsons wrote this song. I keep listening to country from the roots to 1975 and there's just no one like Gram Parsons. What a shame. Truly a genius.

Actually, this was Clarence before the B-Bender. He was doing behind-the-nut- bending, which gave him the idea for the B-Bender. He was wishing he had a third hand so he could do those pedal steel licks. If your speakers are set up correctly, , Clarence's fills are in the left speaker, while Lloyd Green is on pedal steel in the right speaker. Both are kings, in my ears. Do yourself a favor and listen with headphones.
