His joined the Eagles for money. Sad. He much on such a higher level than that band. And he knew it.

40 years ago, I remember listening to this song a bit high, my headphones on and not only enjoying the music and prose but waiting for the 5:02 mark to hear Joe do his Morse code signal, I knew at that point the music was close to the end and I would slowly come back to Earth and move on to bed.

This is the best "end of the party" album ever………I used to take it with me….

Genius pure and simple. Wish he had experimented more in this vein, he easily could have equaled or topped "Dark Side Of The Moon" or "Tubular Bells" with a full album like this track.

One of the most hauntingly beautiful set of songs ever. This is for anyone who questions the genius of Joe Walsh.

What a great and underrated album. Never on the Mojo/Uncut/Q's "best rock albums ever" lists, and I wonder why. A gem of a record, every single song is absolutely wonderful, and the guitars are GREAT

I wish they were here again....I still miss them...now & then.... Where the electric guitar starts I so could have sworn that it was a TV-Public Service background music. On Orlando, FL ch-9....back in the early '70's As a teenager, it represented the awesomeness of aging & the possibilities! And by the way....I got AWESOME!

and the lyrics are "pretty soon we'll get out to school," not "outta school." but i'm old school.

what's really cool is that the beeping over the singing telegraph wires at the end is Morse code for "register and vote."
