My God would all you people just chill the hell out! Everyone is so damn sensitive and PC today that we are losing any chance to appreciate one another and their respective cultures. The past can't be changed and we can all dig up dirt on every race and probably every person on the planet! This is 2015 not 1815! I love these old blues and even play them on the streets in the spring and summer like the cats of old did; and I'm white! The most flattering comment that I ever got was from an old black man and I'll never get one more satisfying! Hell, before you know it, some of you fruit loops will be pissed at Andy Griffith for doing the Ritz Cracker commercial! GOOOOD CRACKER! Jeezus!

What...the...FUCK was that??? Before the singing even started, I was tapping my toes thinking "Don't usually care much for jug bands, but this number swings more like Louis Armstrong's Hot Five". Then comes the line:"You look for your supper to be good and hot(?) never put a neckbone in a pot - she's on the road again!"and I was rollin on the floor laughing - this is Down Home shit. But by the time he peeps "a BIG black nigga in my folding bed", and he rectifies the situation down to "I never seen a LITTLE nigga run so fast", I was in tears: THIS is "Keepin' it real"! (Note that this is the only verse done in stop-time: I bet it brought down the house when they performed it live) Back in the late 80s, when gangsta rap was a fresh break from sappy R&B love songs and was not yet the monotonous commercial product it is now, I used Robert Johnson's "32-20" to argue that gangsta rap was not new but an extension of the roots of the music. Wish I had known about this early version of "Boyz-N-The Hood", that shows an even stronger link between early blues and early rap! Thanks so much for posting!

the expletives used were "of the times" . rappers so carelessly use the word as a pronoun, and are void from ever living through the "intense social atrocities " that accompanied that term. as an african american , my gripe is with those rappers , as well as the mentality of whites that "think" if they hear a black person say such, then it's ok for them to do so. not all black folks, by any means , like using the word. the last and most important fact is; as much social tension that has built up historically , a "thinking" white person should automatically know this word simply "ain't for them". they should understand that since i'm NOT a member of that group, simply stay away from this word's usage unless one is pursuing problems to begin with.

"roots blues" The overall structure, with long verses and a short chorus, is similar to minstrel-show-style material like "It Ain't No Lie" by Eddie Moran and Fred Helf, published in Cincinnati in 1897, and that song has lyrics about "natural born gambler," "natural born joker," etc. And we have evidence that the Moran and Helf song entered folk tradition: Mrs. M. L. Riddle heard blacks singing it in Tennessee with simplified lyrics much later -- see Dorothy Scarborough's *On The Trail...* pp. 232-233.

" I went to my window. My window was propped. I went to my door. My door was locked. I stepped right back. I shook my head. A big black nigger in my folding bed. I shot through the window. I broke the glass. I never seen a little nigger run so fast. " As far as I 'been told to be a "white nigga" by an African-American gentleman & great bluesman - Mr Luther " guitar Jr "Johnson- & as far as I took it as a compliment I must attest that the n***** word is very used among African-American gentlemen.

Just some great roots blues here, Jah bless The Memphis Jug Band bringing the pure blues heat on this one. Gotta credit Jerry Garcia for coming up with that nasty hook and Bob Weir for such sweet vocals that made The Grateful Dead's version such a great homage to this awesome song. The blues will never die.

SCIENTOLOGY is a CRIMINAL MIND CONTROL MONEY CULT that was FABRICATED by a penniless, drug addicted wife beating tax cheater named L. Ron Hubbard and is now run by a violent alcoholic dwarf named DAVID MISCAVIGE, whom apparently beats his staff and humiliates people for his own amusement.
