I am a Samantha Barks fan and I have to agree with you. There's a lot of amazing Eponines out there, and they just seem to be forgotten by the public :( haha and as much as I love Samantha and her amazing rendition, she is a bit overrated given the title of "the best Eponine"

I still don't get why she is regarded as the best Eponine ever? Yes, she was in the movie, yes, she was in the concert. But, does that make her the best? This performance here was better than the movie. However, there are still a lot better Eponines that have graced the stage. No one ever seems to remember Frances Ruffle, Linzi Hatley, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Sutton Foster, & Rosalind James. Now those are some great Eponines! Still, Samantha is very good, but a tad bit overrated,

i think the reason victor hugo made cosette the one end up with the happy ending is to show that life can change at any moment? I dont think it would really make sense (personally) if she was fantine's daughter. I think its to show cosette had a rough childhood and made it out ok and eponine's childhood was carefree and easy and she ended up poor, with unrequited love, and took a bullet for it. cant really go into detail because of lack of characters but thats just putting it simply.
