The story goes that ABC sports executive Roone Arledge in early 1964 was looking for a theme music for his network's broadcasts of that year's Winter Olympics, then a few weeks off. He gave an assistant some money to buy several symphonic LP's, which Arledge played on his stereo. "Bugler's Dream" was supposedly the first piece of music he heard from those albums and he is said to have exclaimed "That's It! This SOUNDS Olympics!".And for most of the American telecasts of the Olympics for the past 50 years, "Bugler's Dream" has opened each day's/night's Olympics coverage.
