First Frank version from the 1955 Songs For Swinging Lovers - I have to say I like this version a whole lot but then it was one I played chronically as a kid - when the 63 Frank/Riddle version came out Frank was into his faster with a clip phase - this one is a smoother orchestration/arrangement.

Unfortunately, most people today only remember him as Hollywood star, but not as the great artist he was. I mean, has there ever been anybody in popular music that put as much time into every single recording as Frank did? Most certainly only a few... (maybe the Beatles in the 60s came close). His music has much more in common with the greats of jazz and classical music than with what "pop" has become today. Unfortunately, as I said, the majority prefers to hear the gossip rather than his art...

All you have to do is start with a great song... add those characteristic Riddle phrases that give color and rhythmic propulsion, then get the best swing musicians in Hollywood to play it and have Sinatra sing it. That's all. Nelson was once asked "how do you arrange for Sinatra? his reply " Stay the hell out of his way."
